It's been a long six months, and we've had numerous fun tasks - both little and big!

Terra Magazine

A foreign publishing house plans to publish a new magazine and has contacted you to do theproject. They know what the magazine will be about and they can provide you with finishedarticles. The problem is that they do not have any visual idea or strategy for the magazine itself. Our job was to develop a concise strategy and visual concept that will form the basis of the magazine and its layout.

I wanted my concept to come across as visually pleasing, with a playful almost artsy layout that should also feel approachable, interesting and inviting. I took some inspiration from Swiss International Style and other similar styles, as well as the post-modernist movement.

Public Awareness Campaign

A21 is an international organisation working to eliminate human trafficking and abolish injustice in the 21st Century. In 2015 the organisation had 11 offices in 10 countries, including Norway.

Our job was to design an A3 poster for A21 for a public awareness campaign targeted towards Norwegians. The purpose of this campaign was to get people to change their attitudes towards this subject as well as to create awareness around the issue.

The poster should showcase a name, slogan and any additional text you would like to add. The“hero” of the poster should however be an impactful photograph. Ask a friend, fellow student or family member to model for you. The photos should be taken outdoors using mainly natural light. If you would like to, you may use external flashes to supplement the natural light. You may also create illustrations and graphics for your poster, as long as it does not distract from the photograph.

I used my sister as the main subject, and we did the photoshoot in an industrial area nearby. When putting together the poster, I tried creating a design and a layout that would draw people's eyes and create a memorable impression - while still letting the photograph play the main part.

Diamond Awards Opening Sequence

Diamond Awards is an annual award show where Noroff students are honored with category nominations and prizes, based on the work they have produced during their studies. Diamond Awards needs an animated opening title sequence.

The title sequence will present Noroff's courses in an exciting way. It should end with the Diamond Awards logo, preferrably animated. Audio should also be included in the title sequence (be sure to use audio in a legal manner by obtaining the necessary rights).

I wanted to create a playful and exciting title sequence that would be short and straight to the point - the point being, introducing the contestants and focusing on the feeling of intrigue. Taking inspiration from artists like Saul Bass (but maybe more from parodies of this style, like the intro of Spy Hard), I went for a cheesy film noir vibe with music resembling the one found in the Jackbox mini game Trivia Murder Party.

The message I tried to convey through my opening sequence would look something like this:

"Welcome to a fun evening in which creativity and learning will be celebrated. What will happen next?!"
